Shelley Richardson, owner of Elmwood Inn Fine Teas

Shelley Richardson

Shelley Richardson is the creative mind behind the Elmwood Inn tea story.  She created the setting for the internationally-known afternoon teas served at Elmwood Inn from 1990 until 2004.  Her elegant, yet relaxed, style has been an important influence on America's tea room renaissance.  You will see her recipes and tea presentations recreated in tearooms across the country.

The three Elmwood Inn recipe books - A Year of Teas at the Elmwood Inn, A Tea for All Seasons, The Tea Table - showcase her delicious recipes, beautiful art, relaxing music and gentle ambience that combined for a memorable respite from life's hectic pace.

Shelley's newest book, Looking Deeply into Tea, contains her meditations centered around the lives of tea workers in India and Sri Lanka.

A talented musician, Shelley holds degrees in both music and education.  She is a clarinetist, Reiki Master, and was a founder of the Danville Labyrinth Project.  She is a native of Charlotte, North Carolina and a graduate of Florida State University.
