In this class, students will learn about the major tea-growing areas of Sri Lanka and the history of the tea trade that began during the reign of Queen Victoria as Britain turned its back on Chinese tea in favor "home-grown" black tea.
What gives Sri Lankan teas their characteristic caramel notes? Bruce will share his photos of tea production in his favorite gardens. You will hear more of the stories he produces for TeaTime magazine and his tea reference book, THE NEW TEA COMPANION: THIRD EDITION.
The Five Teas that will be featured come from these award-winning gardens:
Pettiagalla OP
Lovers Leap OP
Kenilworth FP
New Vikthanakanda SFTGFOP1
Lumbini FBOP
An optional tasting kit is available at Curated Collections.
Class begins at 8:00 PM Eastern Time.
Are you unable to view the program live on this date? You will receive a link to the class video so that you can view Bruce's tasting notes as you make these teas at home.
